Void Resonance

Void Resonance measures how loudly the Void hears you, from 0 to 1,000. The louder your fleets ring on the other side, the stronger the Void bosses that answer them, and the more the Echo has to say to you. The idea comes from the story: the Void does not hunt the weak first, it listens.

How it is measured

  • Power (up to 900): your raw fleet firepower, the physical and energy damage of all your ships, against the median firepower of the world's ten strongest fleets, as 900 × √(your share). A fleet at 4% of that median scores 180, a quarter scores 450, the median itself and above score 900.
  • Memory (up to 100): 5 for every Void boss you have fought.

The same firepower measure sizes the Void bosses, so your Resonance tells you where you stand against them.

Stages

Stage Score Fragments
Unheard 0–149 answer you
Faint 150–299 answer you
Heard 300–499 do not answer
Named 500–699 do not answer
Mirrored 700–1,000 do not answer

Full and lesser bosses answer every stage. A Void fragment answers only Unheard and Faint fleets, so the smallest bosses stay with the smallest players; a louder fleet is turned away at launch. Losing ships lowers your Resonance again, but a stage is only left downwards once your score is 5% below its threshold, so a fleet on the line does not flip back and forth.

Where you see it

  • The boss preview in Galaxy and at the fleet target shows your score and stage and whether the boss answers you; the battle forecast warns before you launch.
  • The game reads every active player's Resonance once an hour, and whenever you look at a boss or send a fleet to one.

The Echo

The Void answers in the voice the crews call the Echo:

  • The first reading brings a transmission: the Void begins to listen.
  • The first time you reach Faint, Heard, Named and Mirrored, a transmission marks it, and it stays in your archive.
  • Every change of stage, rising or falling, brings a message from the Echo to your inbox under System (a fall at most once a day). The Echo speaks in fragments while you are quiet and in whole, reasoned sentences once you are loud, and it speaks differently once your world's Rift has opened.
