Excursions

From VoidVerse Wiki

Excursions

Excursions are deep-space exploration missions. Unlike standard missions, they interact with a specialized event engine that determines loot based on fleet points, flight duration, and risk level.

All coordinates have an internal exhaustion timer, which sets the chance to 0 for that duration.

Loot and Resources

When an excursion event triggers, the engine checks for rare materials first, followed by standard resources.

Rare Materials

Rare materials can be found primarly on empty void locations with a 10% chance. Regular Planets have a 5% chance.

If the event trigger succeeds, the fleet finds one of the following:

  • Artifacts (70% chance)
  • Xenogen (30% chance)
  • Bonus: Players utilizing the Arcanum Protocol (Tier 5 Government) apply a bonus multiplier to all Xenogen and Artifact gains.

Both materials can be used to either enable Bio Research or reconstruct new Relics.

Standard Resources

If no rare material is found, the game rolls for resources based on fleet points and a duration multiplier.

The base chance is 20% on resource finds, increased by 10% for every range of 50-70 minutes, but capped at 60% bonus. This results in a maximum of 80% chance at a maximum excursion duration of around 5-7 hours.

This means a excursion to a planet and a duration of around 6 hours has the highest chance to find resources.

Resource Drop Chance Multiplier Range
Aslit ~60% 4.0x - 10.0x
Crlit 25% 2.0x - 3.5x
Iopla 10% 1.0x - 2.5x
SEM 5% 0.8x - 1.6x

Note: Total reward is strictly limited by the fleet's Max Cargo capacity.

Experience (XP)

Experience is granted for nearly all outcomes to ensure progression:

  • Successful Finds: Scaled by base fleet value and duration.
  • Rare Finds: Scaled between 0.5x and 2.0x the amount of materials recovered.
  • Combat/Loss: Provides a significant XP consolation ranging from 20% to 60% of the lost ships' total value.

Risk and Fleet Loss

If a mission fails to find loot, the fleet's Risk stat determines the severity of the outcome:

  • Soft Fail: The fleet returns empty but safe. This is guaranteed if Risk is 0.
  • Hard Loss: If Risk is greater than 0, ships can be destroyed.
    • The base loss percentage is calculated as Risk × 2.
    • A random variance of 0.75x to 1.25x is applied to this loss per ship type.

Technical Details

  • Duration Cap: For reward calculations, the flight duration is capped at 240 minutes.
  • Fleet Points: Larger fleets increase the chance of potential rewards.
  • Rank Balancing: Resource rewards are partially scaled against the average points of the top 3 players in the universe to maintain economic balance.
