Artifacts
Artifacts
Artifacts are a numeric player currency used for Biolab research and relic creation. They are distinct from individual relic items, even though some navigation wording uses Relics for the collection. Artifacts do not have individual rarity tiers, quality rolls or equipment slots.
Earn and receive
Void Boss Combat awards Artifacts in proportion to actual shield and hull contribution. A partial encounter can pay without defeating the boss; very small contributions can round the amount to zero. It is a calculated payout, not an independent artifact-drop chance. The boss report records the amount, but it becomes part of your player balance only when that fleet returns.
A successful Excursion has a separate 40% configured extra roll for Artifacts. Success itself is not guaranteed, and a successful trip is not a guaranteed Artifacts award. Fleet strength, recorded flight duration and the current reward scaling affect the amount. After three successful excursions within a rolling 24 hours, later successful rewards use a reduced 2–6% multiplier. This reduces payouts rather than imposing a hard launch ban.
Excursion Artifacts share cargo capacity with Xenogen and ordinary resources. Allocation fills Xenogen first, then Artifacts, then Aslit, Crlit, Iopla and SEM, so limited cargo can remove part or all of an Artifacts award. The report reflects the fitted reward. Carried Artifacts are credited to the player when the fleet returns. Boss rewards currently bypass this cargo-fitting step.
Boss payouts also use a recorded encounter reward multiplier based on maximum hull and the world's top-human economy benchmark. This grows rewards with world strength while keeping the same proportional participation rule. The multiplier stays fixed across hits; it does not scale commander experience. See boss rewards and growth examples for the formula and existing-encounter policy. Excursion rewards use their own calculation.
Storage and spending
The balance belongs to your player, not to an individual colony's ordinary storage allocation. Inspect currency displays in Biolab and Archeotech. There is no implemented artifact mine or passive Artifacts production in these paths, and the inspected player interfaces do not provide currency trading or a transfer mission for Artifacts.
Biolab deducts the displayed currency costs when research is queued; completing research applies the progression later. Cancellation of a waiting research refunds its paid currencies in full; cancelling current research uses the configured research-refund rate. Check the queue's displayed rate before cancelling.
Archeotech spends Artifacts together with Xenogen to create relics: Common costs 10 Artifacts, Uncommon 500 and Rare 25,000 per item. Complete Archeotech research first and reserve collection slots. Fusion consumes relic items instead of paying another Artifacts fee; deleting a relic does not restore its creation cost.
