Void Experience

Void Experience is the player reward currency usually displayed as VXP in the game. It can be spent on Biolab research. It is separate from the experience that levels an individual commander; receiving one does not automatically award the other.

Earn VXP

Void Boss Combat calculates VXP from actual damage contribution. A fleet that deals positive damage receives at least 1 VXP in the current resolver; no damage means zero. Contributions can earn VXP before the boss is defeated, with no separate final-kill pool. It is carried as a fleet reward and credited to your player balance on return, alongside the other boss currencies.

Successful Excursions award at least 1 VXP under the current reward calculation. Failed trips do not award it. VXP is not a separate optional extra roll like Artifacts or Xenogen. Its amount scales with the fleet and recorded journey; subsequent successes after three in a rolling 24 hours use the reduced 2–6% reward multiplier. Excursion VXP is credited immediately when the arrival resolves and is not reduced by cargo capacity. Other excursion rewards must fit the hold and arrive home first.

Boss payouts also use a recorded encounter reward multiplier based on maximum hull and the world's top-human economy benchmark. This grows rewards with world strength while keeping the same proportional participation rule. The multiplier stays fixed across hits; it does not scale commander experience. See boss rewards and growth examples for the formula and existing-encounter policy. Excursion rewards use their own calculation.

Spend and track

VXP belongs to your player balance; it is not stored in a colony's resource tanks. Biolab and Command displays show it. Biolab deducts its VXP cost when a research is queued and applies that research's effect at completion. Costs scale by the research model and level; check the actual queue preview. For example, the first Archeotech level costs 1,000 VXP as well as Xenogen and Artifacts.

Cancelling waiting research refunds its paid currencies in full. Cancelling current research uses the configured rate shown by the queue. Spending VXP is therefore an expenditure of earned currency, not an automatic reduction of a commander's level. Relic creation directly spends Xenogen and Artifacts, not VXP; VXP helps unlock the relevant Biolab research.

Commander experience is different

An owned commander assigned to a resolved boss encounter earns its own contribution-based experience immediately at resolution. That experience belongs to that commander, can advance its level and is recorded separately in the combat report. Fractional awards accumulate; the report can indicate an award below a hundredth. Commander progression stops at level 50. The player VXP payout follows its separate reward formula and return-credit timing, even if no commander was assigned.

There is no implemented automatic player level-up or commander training purchase simply from holding VXP in the inspected paths. Use Reports to compare earned rewards and commander progression, and your current balance to check what is spendable.
