Commanders

Commanders lead fleets against Void bosses, including the Void holds in the Void Realm; they never join ordinary attacks. The page opens once you own a Commander Academy of level 1 or higher on any planet.

Academies and pool. The Commander Academy needs Government Center 3, Command Center 3 and Planetary Shipyard 4; level 1 costs 2,500 Aslit, 15,000 Crlit and 2,000 SEM. Every academy you own counts toward your academy rating: each adds 1 + 2.5 × ln(1 + level). The rating sets the pool cap, the stat total a new candidate gets: 0.2 + 3 × ln(1 + rating) percent, at most 80%. One academy at level 4 gives a pool of about 5.6%. The Academies button lists your academies and their scores.

Recruiting. Refresh recruits creates three candidates and is available once every 24 hours; a refresh replaces candidates you did not take. A candidate splits the pool at random across P-DMG, E-DMG, Hull and Shield. It also gets a skeleton tier, rolled from T0 up to the highest tier its pool allows (pool 5 for T1, 8 for T2, 11 for T3, 13.5 for T4, 15.5 for T5), and a skeleton bonus of three quarters of the pool, ±50%. Recruiting costs 1,000 G.E.L.D. plus 250 G.E.L.D. per point of the four stats, 5% more per level a candidate already has. You can command at most three commanders. Now and then (5% per refresh) one of the three is a previously dismissed commander.

In battle. Pick an available commander when you send a fleet to a Void boss. Its P-DMG and E-DMG raise your ships' physical and energy weapon damage by that percentage. Ships of the commander's skeleton tier also get the skeleton bonus on weapons, and on hull and shield against the boss's counterstrike. In Void hold battles a rested, experienced commander also raises your fleet's morale (see Void Boss Combat).

Rest and loss. A commander is booked while the fleet flies. After the fight it rests 24 hours, or 6 hours if that fight destroyed the boss. If the whole fleet is lost, the commander falls for 48 hours; the Biolab Cloning Vats shorten that by 1% per level.

Experience. Damage earns experience: hitting a boss for 1% of its maximum hull gives 10 XP (Biolab Neural Uplink adds more). The next level needs 100 + 20 × (level - 1) XP, up to level 50. Every level above 1 raises the base stats and the skeleton bonus by 5% (level 50: ×3.45).

Dismissing happens on the commander's detail page while it is not on a mission and cannot be undone.

Tip: academies on several planets add up, but each level adds less, so a second academy usually raises the pool more than one more level.
