Rocket Silo

The Rocket Silo builds and fires Planetbusters, late-game rockets that strike another player's colony without a fleet.

Requirements. The Buster Silo building needs Engine Engineering 8, Weapon Research 8 and Intergalactic Rocketry 1; Intergalactic Rocketry itself needs Matter Compression 10, Subspace Drives 10 and Physical Weapon 8. Each silo level stores one rocket and costs 2.5 times the previous level. The silo cannot be built in the Void Realm.

Rocket types (default cost per rocket):

  • Tectonic: 450,000 Aslit, 300,000 Crlit, 150,000 Iopla, 30,000 SEM and 25,000 G.E.L.D.; 12 hours to build. On impact it stops the planet's resource production for a random 2 to 4 hours.
  • Nullwave: 100,000 Aslit, 80,000 Crlit, 120,000 Iopla, 20,000 SEM and 30,000 G.E.L.D.; 1.5 hours to build. On impact it cuts the planet's energy production for 10 minutes and lowers its bunker protection to at most 10%.

The silo runs one batch at a time, limited by free storage, and delivers the whole batch when it is finished.

Launching. Use Fire planetbuster on a colonized planet in the Galaxy; the silo opens with that target locked. A launch costs G.E.L.D. (5,000 Tectonic, 7,500 Nullwave) plus SEM fuel from the launching colony: base fuel (10,000 Tectonic, 6,000 Nullwave) + distance^1.35 × 25,000. Base speed is 14,000 (Tectonic) or 18,000 (Nullwave), +5% per Engine Engineering level, and a flight takes at least 60 seconds. The Planetbuster engine tier under Engine control on the Command page (one tier per 4 Engine Engineering levels, at most 5) adds 30% speed per tier but raises launch cost and fuel by the same factor.

Limits and protection.

  • Each player can fire one Nullwave per 24 hours.
  • A planet is immune to Tectonic for 24 hours after a Tectonic effect ends, and a player takes at most 2 Tectonic hits per 24 hours. After a Nullwave the planet is immune to Nullwave for 12 hours. A rocket that meets immunity is deflected and lost.
  • The usual attack protections (vacation mode, alliance pacts, miner mode, weak-target protection) are checked at launch and again on impact; see Player Combat. A rocket blocked on impact is lost too.
  • Planetbusters cannot target planets in the Void Realm or launch from there.
  • Rockets in flight appear in Fleet Movement; Self-destruct there destroys the rocket without a refund.

Tip: a Nullwave leaves the bunker at 10% for its 10 minutes, so an attack fleet timed to land in that window can loot more.
